– In patients with
irritable bowel syndrome, if diarrhea is the predominant component, anti-diarrheals that
slow intestinal motility can be used, but I like to
recommend using them sparingly. What I have found in my experience is that patients sometimes
get accustomed to using them and then reliant on them. I think in the best practice,
it’s best to try and find other alternatives to anti-diarrheals if it becomes too chronic.
