Greetings..!! In the last video, we have discussed about what is diabetes Now let’s discuss about the different types of diabetes Diabetes are primarily of two types Which are Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Let’s see what is Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus are mostly found with peoples having age less than 30 Sometimes, Type 1 Diabetes are also found with children since birth The primary reason for Type 1 Diabetes is mostly hereditary i.e issues with genes Due to issues in genes, pancreas are unable to produce Beta Cells which is responsible for producing Insulin Hence, we can say that in Type 1 Diabetes, Insulin is NOT produced Not only hereditary, there might also be environmental/immunology reason which may cause Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus Since, Insulin is not getting produced in Type 1 Diabetes Insulin might have to be taken from an outside source This taking of Insulin might have to be repeated thought his/her life That is reason why Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is known as Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus It is commonly seen that people suffering from Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus often have an underdeveloped thin body structure The reason being, due to lack of Insulin, body is unable to use glucose or carbohydrate Due to this, body is using all the proteins and fat to produce energy That is why, people suffering from Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus often have an underdeveloped thin body structure Now, let’s see what is Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is also known as Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus This disease is mostly found in people having age greater than 30 Studies have shown that, Type 2 Diabetes are most common among the types of diabetes These are caused by various unhealthy lifestyle and unhealthy habits, for example Obesity Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus can also
be a hereditary issue For example if either parents are having Diabetes, there is a possibility that their children may also have Type 2 Diabetes It is seen that in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Insulin is getting produced, but not properly That’s the reason, it is not mandatory to take Insulin from outside source With proper health habits and healthy lifestyle, or with medicines, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus can be controlled And that’s the reason Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is known as Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus Now that we have learnet about Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Melllitus, In the next videos, we shall be discussing in details about the reasons and risk factors of Diabetes Mellitus That’s all for this video.
